Atlas Fine Wines is very pleased to announce that we are holding a TerraVin tasting and dinner on 10th June 2014.
Simon Larkin has followed the wines of TerraVin ever since the early 2000s, while travelling to South Island, New Zealand while studying for his Master of Wine examinations. At this time, TerraVin was just being established and some vineyards were just being planted. One of the aims behind Terravin was to move away from the valley floor and explore hillside viticulture, carefully selecting the best sites for Pinot Noir and also Sauvignon Blanc. Today, under the supervision of Head Winemaker Gordon Ritchie, TerraVin is producing some of New Zealand’s most enviable wines. While championing fine Marlborough Pinot Noir and a different take on Sauvignon Blanc, Terravin also produces impressive examples of Chardonnay, Malbec and even a botrytised, sweet Sauvignon Blanc, all three of which will also be shown at the tasting.
The evening will commence with a glass of Champagne at 6.45pm, to be followed by a tasting of six relatively youthful wines in advance of dinner. We will then partner five more mature vintages to the specific dishes especially prepared by the chef at The Don. Amongst the highlights of the evening will be the Hillside Reserve Pinot Noir 2005, of which no more than 500 cases were produced from a single vineyard in the centre of a gentle, north-facing slope. The evening will conclude with a glass of Noble Sauvignon Blanc. A full list of the wines can be found below.
