Domaine Méo-Camuzet 2018

January 2020

Jean-Nicolas Meo characterised 2018 as a topsy-turvy vintage in that it reversed so many viticultural norms. Fruit sorting was about the elimination of the overripe instead of the underripe.  Grand Crus had to be picked early and quickly with the domaine beginning its harvest in Grand Cru Corton on 29th August.  The iconic Cros Parentoux vineyard was picked on 1st September.  The wines show all the plush, cushioned texture and deep fruit core of the Meo-Camuzet style with meltingly ripe tannins and freshly ripe fruit combining with the familiar harmony.

2018 Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Meo-Camuzet
£380 per 6 bottle case in bond

Creamy, dark fruit notes on the nose are followed by a velvet-textured attack. There is such fine purity of blue and black fruit all expressed with a silky delicacy on the late palate, where the fruit returns together with a gently stony mineral length and perfectly ripe, fine tannins. Long with touches of exotic spice and layered fruit. Drink 2023-2033

2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru, Les Chaumes, Domaine Meo-Camuzet
£630 per 6 bottle case in bond

Pure, clean, scented red and black fruit of ripeness and concentration. The palate shows good structure with great fruit density of small black fruits offset by a clean mineral thread that weaves its way through the entire palate. Long and very fine. Drink 2023-2035

2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Domaine Meo-Camuzet
£1,250 per 6 bottle case in bond

Ripe, soft fruit skin nose but pure and beautifully defined. Supple breadth of fruit on the attack gives way to a firm mineral core. This is all about richness allied to definition with deep black fruit bringing both ripe fruit and tannins with an underlying powerful mineral core. Drink 2023-2038

As always with Burgundy releases, we are unable to sell leading Grand Cru and Premier Cru or wines from particularly sought-after domaines in isolation – we cannot buy them from the domaines that way ourselves and we are aware that demand is sure to outstrip supply. However, instead of running a complex system of allocations, we do aim to confirm requests as soon as we are able to do so or to highlight where we are unable to assist. To request a specific wine, please contact any member of the sales team on +44 (0) 20 3017 2299. You can also reach Simon Larkin MWRichard O'Mahony, and James Ceppi di Lecco by email.
