Burgundy 2014

Domaine Duroché 2017

Please note: We regret that, just like all fine wine merchants, we are unable to sell leading Grand Cru and Premier Cru or wines from particularly sought after domaines in isolation – we cannot buy them from the domaines that way ourselves and we are aware that demand is sure to outstrip supply. Instead of running a complex system of allocations, we aim to confirm requests shortly after they are made or highlight where we are unable to assist or where a balance might be required to secure a particularly desirable wine.

We have visited Domaine Duroche for the last couple of years and are really pleased to now be offering some of Pierre Duroche’s beautifully crafted Gevrey-Chambertin.  This is certainly a Domaine in the ascendant, with glowing praise coming from so many quarters.  And deservedly so on the basis of our most recent tastings.  Since he fully took over the running of the domaine in 2005, Pierre has looked to harness the more elegant side of Gevrey in wines that are unforced, natural and laced with finesse.  This is not to say the wines eschew the famed powerful aspects of Gevrey-Chambertin but that they allow this power to emerge through the pure fruit and mineral nuances that these sublime terroirs are capable of expressing.

2017 Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Duroché

£225 per 6 bottle case in bond

There is a real clarity to the fruit here with dark berry fruits on the nose.  The palate is pure and natural, nothing forced here.  The finish is of juicy berry fruit gently underscored by a fresh lift and a building sense of energy.  An exemplary expression of this lieu-dit at the foot of the Combe St Jacques.  Drink 2022-2028

2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru, Les ChampeauxDomaine Duroché

£375 per 6 bottle case in bond

Scented dark berry fruit nose.  The palate has a small berry concentration at its core and the flavours open and build over time.  There is a juicy quality to the fruit here, again really pure and natural.  The finish is long and fine, with a wonderful sense of tension that holds the wine and gives incredible persistence of fruit and minerality to this very elegant Gevrey Premier Cru.  Outstanding.  Drink 2022-2030

As always with Burgundy releases, we are unable to sell leading Grand Cru and Premier Cru or wines from particularly sought-after domaines in isolation – we cannot buy them from the domaines that way ourselves and we are aware that demand is sure to outstrip supply. However, instead of running a complex system of allocations, we do aim to confirm requests as soon as we are able to do so or to highlight where we are unable to assist. To request a specific wine, please contact any member of the sales team on +44 (0) 20 3017 2299. You can also reach Simon Larkin MWRichard O'Mahony, and James Ceppi di Lecco by email.
