Burgundy 2014

Domaine Hudelot-Noellat 2016

Hudelot-Noellat is an estate with a great history and truly stunning holdings. This is one of the rare estates, along with Leroy and Domaine Romanée Conti, to own Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. In each of the many revered sites, Hudelot have a great parcel.  This already excellent estate was elevated to a new level with the arrival of Charles Van Canneyt, who succeeded his grandfather, Alain Hudelot, in 2008. Charles has not sought to reinvent the wheel but rather has fine-tuned every aspect of this top domaine. The influence is especially apparent at the village and lower Premier Cru level where Hudelot was traditionally a little weak, the big change at these levels is reduced yields. Charles’ meticulous nature has had an impact across every aspect of the vineyard work and winemaking… this is now one very tight ship. The quality of Charles work is reflected in a run of strong vintages and this estate is now high on collector hit lists.  For Charles, what makes the 2016s so appealing and collectible is the combination of suppleness and fruit sweetness; they are wines which he stated show excellent potential for keeping because of the combination of beautiful balance with an energy and freshness.

Domaine Hudelot-Noellat, Bourgogne Rouge 2016
This is a remarkably appealing, fruit forward Bourgogne made from numerous parcels outside Chambolle-Musigny. Bright, vibrant with a pleasing depth to the fruit. A smart buy in this vintage. Drink 2019-2025

Domaine Hudelot-Noellat, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru, Les Charmes 2016
The 2016 Charmes reveals a deep, savoury nuanced fruit. There is plenty of substance to the 2016, yet it is the supple edge which highlights the virtues of the vintage. While there is an underlying juicy, succulent nature to fruit, it seems that this Charmes is going to take a little time to fully knit, though all the components are in place. Drink 2024-2035

£510 per six bottles in bond - SOLD OUT

Domaine Hudelot-Noellat, Nuits-St Georges 1er Cru, Les Murgers 2016
Murgers so often captures characters more akin to Vosne; here it is no exception. Hints of bright red fruit, with Asian spice overlay blueberry and blackberry in this impressive Nuits. Taut and energetic, this is a terrific Murgers with plenty of richness, but fine delineation and silky fine tannins. Impressive. Drink 2025-2036

£390 per six bottles in bond - SOLD OUT

Domaine Hudelot-Noellat, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2016
An inviting set of aromatics here; notes of juicy, scented dark red fruit with discreet notes of menthol and spice. There is a generosity to the 2016 with a distinct creamy textural quality and a broad swathe of fruit, yet it doesn’t lose its sense of precision and poise. An attractive Vougeot with plenty of potential. Drink 2026-2038

£650 per six bottles in bond - SOLD OUT

As always with Burgundy releases, we are unable to sell leading Grand Cru and Premier Cru or wines from particularly sought-after domaines in isolation – we cannot buy them from the domaines that way ourselves and we are aware that demand is sure to outstrip supply. However, instead of running a complex system of allocations, we do aim to confirm requests as soon as we are able to do so or to highlight where we are unable to assist. To request a specific wine, please contact any member of the sales team on +44 (0) 20 3017 2299. You can also reach Simon Larkin MWRichard O'Mahony, and James Ceppi di Lecco by email.
