Burgundy 2014

Domaine Faiveley 2016

Erwan Faiveley continues to drive Domaine Faiveley forward to ever greater heights of quality.  Having taken over in 2005, he proceeded to invest in new winemaking facilities and to employ the brilliant Jerome Flous as Chief Winemaker, the result of which have been huge improvements in quality and more considered use of new oak.

Vineyard acquisition has also been a focus of Erwan’s tenure with 20 hectares in Gevrey Chambertin added in 2013 including vines in both Charmes-Chambertin and Lavaux Saint Jacques.  The family produce wine from a remarkable 10 hectares of Grand Cru and 25 Premier Cru with many of these in prime Cote de Nuits appellations.  We are delighted to have our allocation of both Premier and Grand Crus, including some of the most sought-after wines such as Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Fuées and the Chambertin-Clos de Bèze.

Domaine Faiveley, Corton Clos des Cortons 2016

Scented, floral, perfumed red fruit nose with a refined mineral vein.  Clean, pure and with direct fruit yet also the evidence and promise of profound, developing complexity. There is, atypical for Corton at this early stage, an openness and fruit roundness on the attack. Nevertheless, there is no avoiding or denying this wine’s origins in a palate that builds gradually, showing a vibrant fruit core encased in a tremendous irony mineral finish that continues for a long time.  This is a serious Corton with a great future. Drink 2025-2040

Domaine Faiveley Chambertin Clos de Beze 2016

While the nose here is currently closed, the purity, health and vigour of the wine are clear. The palate is refined, sophisticated and mineral with incredible length and definition. This Clos de Beze dazzles with its perfect balance between pure fruit and complex minerality.  The tannins are fine and beautifully expressed giving a wine of great length and finesse. Drink 2025-2040

Domaine Faiveley Latricières-Chambertin 2016

Following on from a brilliant 2015, Faiveley’s Latricières 2016 is another outstanding wine which exudes class with its array of red and black fruit on nose and palate held together by a focused, mineral core. Located above Charmes and adjoining Morey St Denis, Latricières is invariably more elegant and in Faiveley’s 2016 this comes through in spades.  Well-delineated, defined, focussed, pure and long may sound like repetition but it is worth repeating.  Drink 2022-2038

£770 per six bottles in bond - SOLD OUT

Domaine Faiveley Echezeaux, "En Orveaux" 2016

A subtle toasted note of high quality oak underpins the clean, pure, restrained red fruit.  On the palate there is remarkable fluidity, with ripe, fresh red and black fruit caressing the palate with a gently textured elegance.  The toast notes have been completely incorporated on the palate, where there is seamless integration, purity and mineral persistence. Drink 2022-2038

£670 per six bottles in bond - SOLD OUT

Domaine Faiveley, Nuits-St. Georges 1er Cru, Aux Chaignots 2016

Les Chaignots is an exemplary vineyard to the northern end of the Nuits appellation, near Vosne-Romaee, and sandwiched between the great Premiers Crus La Richemone and Aux Thorey.  Faiveley’s Chaignots 2016 shows fresh red and blue fruit characters with a scented cherry blossom allure.  A touch of spice, from 20% whole bunch use, gives further lift to the finish, which shows a fine-grained tannin length. Drink 2020-2030

£270 per six bottles in bond - SOLD OUT

Domaine Faiveley Nuits-St. Georges 1er Cru, Les Damodes 2016

There is an ebullience on the nose of this beautifully crafted Damodes, with an appealing, glossy quality. Ripe, rich fruit and some subtle spice adorn a juicy, rounded palate.  There is a firmness on the finish which, when interpreted in the context of the deep fruit core, suggests a wine of great potential and promise. Drink 2020-2035

£270 per six bottles in bond

Domaine Faiveley, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru, Les Fuees 2016

Another towering success in the vintage for Domaine Faiveley is their Chambolle 1er Cru Les Fuees with its lifted floral nose of cherry and cherry blossom.  There are darker fruits too, notes of herb and a touch of spice.  Typical of the vintage there is a pure, clean, juicily ripe attack.  This is silky texture in a glass, underpinned by mineral tannins of incredible finesse.  It is the exquisite balance of all the elements that is so tantalising here with its promise of ever increasing harmony as it evolves. Drink 2020-2030

£520 per six bottles in bond - SOLD OUT

Joseph Faiveley, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru, Charmes 2016

The richer, broader style of Charmes is immediately evident on the nose here with red cherry fruit and a gentle floral touch.  The palate opens with supple breadth and juicy red fruit which is carried by fine tannins on a long finish.  A beautifully crafted expression of Chambolle 1er Cru that balances the more elegant, scented character of the village with the firmer backbone of Charmes. Drink 2020-2035

£380 per six bottles in bond - SOLD OUT

As always with Burgundy releases, we are unable to sell leading Grand Cru and Premier Cru or wines from particularly sought-after domaines in isolation – we cannot buy them from the domaines that way ourselves and we are aware that demand is sure to outstrip supply. However, instead of running a complex system of allocations, we do aim to confirm requests as soon as we are able to do so or to highlight where we are unable to assist. To request a specific wine, please contact any member of the sales team on +44 (0) 20 3017 2299. You can also reach Simon Larkin MWRichard O'Mahony, and James Ceppi di Lecco by email.
