There is a controlled power at the core of this wine, tightly wound but incredibly focused. Real fruit delineation and purity. Scented blue and red berry fruit with a gentle creamy note too. The palate reflects this elegant style and, while the fruit expands across the palate, there is a certain weightlessness and grace. A subtle mineral grip gives a sense of structure to the juicy, mineral-tinged palate. This is a beautifully textured, harmonious and effortlessly natural Pinot Noir. (ROM) Drink 2023-2030
2020 Chardonnay, Bönnigheimer Sonnenberg

Beautiful clear bright green lemon hue. The nose has the smoky bacon notes of reductive winemaking which promise a tensile aspect to the palate. From beneath this there emerges a pure, clean, fresh, floral lime nose. Typical of the Dautel wines, there is a pristine clarity to the fruit. The palate opens with an appealing weight of concentrated yellow citrus fruit that expands on the palate but is cut by a sense of energy and a mineral austerity, which suggests age-worthiness. There is a taut, tensile nature to the long lemon and yellow grapefruit charged finish. (ROM) Drink 2023-2028
