In explaining what makes this particular auction so remarkable, Simon highlights the rarity and sought-after nature of this particular Domaine. “It’s become one of the most expensive, one of the most sought-after domaines in France now, producing a range of Grand Cru, some of which trade at £40,000 for a bottle for the Grand Cru Musigny [which is] incredibly rare; only about 800 bottles produced each year…these are some of the rarest wines that anyone is ever likely to own.”
Simon goes on to comment on the extraordinary rarity of the condition of the wines for sale in the auction – original sealed cases, purchased for the client by Simon over the last 20 years, professionally stored, and with impeccable provenance with accompanying documents and original invoices – this is near impossible to find for wines of such rarity.
