Atlas behind Sotheby's record-breaking DRC 'Sup...

Over the past few months you may have seen significant press leading up to the Sotheby’s sale of a flight of wines termed to be the ‘DRC Superlot’: a 114 bottle flight of Domaine Romanée-Conti containing six bottles of each vintage, spanning 1992-2010. The Index, which tracks the price movement of the most sought-after wines, is often considered the leading benchmark for the wine industry. While it is too soon to dub this a turn in the market, this hopefully will offer some encouragement as we move into September.

Now Published: Atlas' Quarterly Market Report

For this issue of the Market Report, we have chosen to focus on the Bordeaux market exclusively. It is Bordeaux that is currently making the headlines for all the wrong reasons; but equally, as many commentators agree, it is Bordeaux that needs to stabilise and then regain ground for the market truly to recover. In the following articles, we assess the current state of the market, review recent developments and consider the opportunities that exist after assessing the backdrop to the current slump. With the recent diversification that has taken place, has the market changed for good or are we merely at a certain point in the cycle?
