Simon Larkin joined the wine trade in 1996. He rapidly progressed through his trade examinations to qualify as a Master of Wine in 2004 at his first attempt. His ability not only led to him winning the prestigious Madame Bollinger Medal for Tasting Excellence in the MW examination, but has also led to him regularly participating on the tasting panel for an influential wine journal.
Having headed up both sales and buying functions in past roles, Simon enjoys a strong profile with growers and négoçiants in Europe, and with private clients alike. Simon has developed a very loyal following of clients, many of whom have built up impressive cellars following his advice either for eventual consumption or investment gain.
Aside from day-to-day management of the business, Simon divides his time between his buying responsibilities, sourcing interesting parcels of fine wine on the secondary market and providing clients with advice on their collection and purchases.
In 2014, Simon was profiled in the Spear's 500, a comprehensive guide to leading private client advisers for lawyers, wealth managers and service providers to High Net Worth Individual, described by Spears as one of the ‘new generation of British wine experts’. He has been included in this guide in all preceding years including the 2019 edition. He is also a contributor to Bloomberg, having provided market insights on both Bloomberg’s TV channel and their news website.
