I am pleased to share the news with you that Atlas has purchased Winepro Limited (WinePro), a family-owned online merchant specialising in the sale of single bottles of mature fine wine, which will now be known as Atlas Wine Pro.
By way of background, WinePro was founded by Bob Butler in 2005 and has been efficiently run by Bob and his son Guy ever since. Together they have built up a strong following in the UK and overseas, aiming to offer fine wines at competitive prices for ready delivery. I am pleased to confirm Bob will be sharing his knowledge and assisting the Atlas team with the transition period before entering retirement, while Guy is leaving the industry to explore new opportunities. We are excited to have acquired a business that is highly complementary to our core activities. Atlas will continue to offer fine wines by the case, invariably young wines for laying down for future consumption and/ or investment, while Atlas Wine Pro allows us to provide mature wines for current drinking for immediate delivery via the fully transactional Atlas Wine Pro website. Given Atlas’ sourcing network, we are certain we will be able to expand the range of wines offered by the bottle by Atlas Wine Pro, increasing sales by promoting this service to our existing database of clients and marketing to new clients beyond.
Recent analysis of our own sales had shown a growing demand for mature wines by the single bottle, whether it be for personal consumption or for gifting purposes. To date, we have only really dabbled with such sales, now we have a strong platform on which to build a much wider and more in-depth offering. We will keep you informed about further developments and innovations as we take this exciting business forward over the coming months, leading up to a more formal launch in September 2021.
